The Gap We Kept Seeing
Every performance marketer knows the feeling. You're running campaigns across channels - billboards, packaging, events, print ads, partnerships - and when someone asks "how did that offline campaign perform?" the answer is always the same: we don't really know.
UTM parameters work for digital. But the moment your marketing touches the physical world - a QR code on a product box, a link on a standee at an event, a scan on a brochure - attribution disappears. You're left guessing which channel drove the traffic, which creative worked, and whether that ₹10L outdoor campaign was worth it.
We saw this gap repeatedly across our client work. And when Reliance Jio's gaming division - JioGames - came to us with the same problem at enterprise scale, we knew we had to build something.
The JioGames Challenge
JioGames operates across multiple teams - each running their own campaigns, promotions, and partnerships. The marketing team needed a way to:
- Generate dynamic QR codes and short links for every campaign touchpoint
- Track scans and clicks in real time - by location, device, time, and source
- Compare campaign performance across teams without sharing sensitive data
- Handle massive scale - millions of scans per month without degradation
- Get answers fast - not through a dashboard 3 clicks deep, but at a glance
They didn't need another generic URL shortener. They needed a campaign intelligence layer that bridges the gap between where someone sees a QR code and what they do after scanning it.
Building QRURL.co
QRURL started as an internal tool. We built it because we needed it for our own client campaigns. The first version was simple - generate a QR code, get a short link, see scan analytics. But the JioGames engagement pushed us to build something far more powerful.
The architecture had to handle burst traffic - imagine a QR code flashing on-screen during a live gaming event with 500K viewers. Thousands of scans within seconds. The system needed to capture every single one without dropping data, while still serving the redirect in under 100ms.
We built QRURL on edge infrastructure - scans are tracked at the CDN layer before the redirect happens, so there's zero latency added to the user experience. The analytics pipeline processes events asynchronously, meaning real-time dashboards stay responsive even during traffic spikes.
3+ Million Scans and Counting
Within months of deployment, JioGames teams were tracking over 3 million scans across their campaigns. For the first time, they could answer:
- Which partnership drives the most engaged users? Not just clicks - time on site, app installs, and downstream actions.
- Which creative variant performs better? A/B testing QR placements, colors, and CTAs on physical materials.
- Where are scans coming from geographically? Heat maps showing campaign reach across cities.
- When do people scan? Time-of-day patterns revealing optimal campaign scheduling.
The data that was previously invisible - trapped in the gap between offline touchpoint and online action - was now visible, measurable, and actionable.
Why We Made It Affordable for Everyone
After building QRURL for JioGames, we realized something: this isn't just an enterprise problem. Every small business owner running a print campaign, every D2C brand putting QR codes on packaging, every event organizer distributing passes - they all have the same blind spot.
The existing tools in the market are either too basic (just a QR generator with no analytics) or too expensive (enterprise pricing that makes no sense for a small business running 10 campaigns). We wanted to build something in between - powerful enough for JioGames, affordable enough for a local restaurant tracking their table-tent QR codes.
QRURL.co is now available as a standalone product. You get:
- Dynamic QR codes - change the destination without reprinting
- Real-time scan analytics - device, location, time, referrer
- A/B testing - multiple destinations from the same QR, split by percentage
- Campaign organization - folders, tags, and team workspaces
- Retargeting pixels - fire your Meta/Google pixel on scan for retargeting
- Bulk generation - hundreds of unique QRs for product packaging or events
The Missing Piece in Your Performance Marketing Funnel
If you're spending money on any marketing that exists in the physical world - events, packaging, print, outdoor, partnerships, POS displays - you have a data gap. You know what happens on your website. You know what happens in your ads dashboard. But the bridge between "someone saw my thing in the real world" and "someone landed on my website" is dark.
QRURL turns that dark funnel into a lit one. Every scan is a data point. Every data point is a decision. And better decisions compound into better ROI.
We built this because we needed it. JioGames validated it at scale. Now it's available for every business that refuses to fly blind on their offline-to-online marketing.
